Fairview Heights Animal Clinic & Animal Hospital of O’Fallon

Diagnostic Care

If you think your pet might be sick or injured in any capacity, bring them to our clinic where we can examine them and make a diagnosis and treatment plan to get them back to their normal selves. Our team of experts at Fairview Heights and O’Fallon will use everything at our disposal to provide the best diagnostic care.

Laboratory Services

We test samples at our own in-house facility, which allows us to get the answers that you are looking for quickly and efficiently. Most often, you will be able to review test results the same day as your appointment. Our tests are conducted during our examinations, so we get a clear picture of your pet’s overall health and can track changes over time, addressing any issues as they arise.

Below are some of the most common tests that we perform at Fairview Heights and O’Fallon Animal Hospital:

  • Urinalysis
  • Blood count and blood chemistry
  • Electrolytes
  • Thyroid
  • Fecal

Performing these tests allows us to look for:

  • Inflammation
  • Infection
  • Anemia
  • Proper organ function
  • Adequate hydration levels
  • Sufficient bone metabolism
  • Diabetes
  • Intestinal parasites

If you believe your pet is due for a lab panel, do not hesitate to reach out to us and schedule an appointment.

Digital Radiography

Diagnostic imaging in the form of an x-ray can allow us to see things that do not come up in bloodwork, like arthritis, cancer, and issues with the lungs, heart, and musculoskeletal system. We might recommend x-rays in routine appointments as well as in emergency situations to spot tumors, fractures, or foreign bodies.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure that utilizes a flexible tool called an endoscope. The endoscope is a highly specialized tool that allows veterinarians to see inside your pet’s body in a minimally invasive way.

Endoscopic procedures are used in a variety of different ways for a number of ailments. Franklin here was able to have a sock removed from his stomach using the endoscope and was back at home the same day. Without an endoscope he would have required surgery to have the sock removed.

Endoscopy also allows veterinarians to provide better and earlier diagnosis, making it a valuable tool to modern veterinary medicine.
